Dairy Gateway Project (Fall
2003 - Spring 2004)
The Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources hired Madison Environmental Group to design
a baseline documentation process for the Diary Gateway
project. After designing the methodology we identified
three dairy farms to participate in the baseline study,

Payeacres Dairy Farm. The baseline process and the
stories of these three farms are described in our
April 2004 report Dairy Gateway: Documentation, Evaluation
and Communication for the Wisconsin Department of
Natural Resources. This project was generously funded

Transportation Options
Map (Spring 2003 - Fall 2003)
Madison Environmental Group developed
a Madison Area Transportation Options Map to build
awareness of “car-lite” transportation
options. The full-color printed map is two-sided.
One side (Paddle, Pedal and Pedestrian) highlights
non-motorized transportation options such as bicycle
routes, pedestrian bridges, and canoe/kayak facilities.
The other side (Bus, Boat and Beyond) highlights motorized
transportation options including Metro bus routes,
car rental companies, Community Car locations, motor
boat launches, and regional buses and trains. The
interactive web
map allows users to zoom into neighborhoods to
find nearby transportation options. Our project partners
were the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources,
The University of Wisconsin. The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency funded this project. learn
