Many
people want to lessen their impact on
the environment, but might need some
help and support along the way. Madison Environmental Group's
EnAct (Environmental Action Teams) program gives people
tools and encouragement to adopt more economical and environmentally-friendly
lifestyle practices. EnAct creates Environmental Action
Teams in neighborhoods and community groups to promote sustainable
living and strengthen communities. Team participants take
actions to reduce waste, conserve energy and water, protect
water quality, reduce automobile use, and make healthy and
sustainable food choices.
EnAct
produces measurable results. We implement pre- and post-program
surveys to document participants' achievements. Annually,
participating households save an average of:
-
|
Vilas Neighborhood

$281
-
183 pounds of garbage
-
570 kWh of electricity
-
39 therms of natural gas
-
14,487 gallons of water
-
1,126 vehicle miles
-
2,196 pounds of CO2
Please
visit www.enactwi.org
to download the free EnAct Participant Guide, the household
inventory survey, and for information to start a team in
your community. Though the materials are currently
designed for Dane County Wisconsin, we have a method of
working wtih other communities. Please phone (608)280-0800
or email Sonya
Newenhouse to request how we can bring EnAct to your
community.
