| Historical Manufactured Gas Plant

Green
parking and restored prairie are
in Janesville in place of an old manufactured gas plant
site. For Alliant Energy we managed the installation of
a Greenspace parking area in Janesville, Wisconsin, which
we designed using an innovative redevelopment process. The
site was a former Manufactured Gas Plant and is now an active
substation providing electricity to the community. The greenspace
redevelopment plan incorporates native prairie vegetation,
trees, shrubs, an asphalt driveway and a grass parking area
bordering the drive. The City of Janesville will lease,
operate and maintain the green space and parking areas.

2000 |
Madison
Environmental Group facilitated a public planning process
with Alliant Energy and the City of Janesville in 1999-2000
to design a beneficial reuse for the site. The site is being
planted to tallgrass and shortgrass prairie, and will feature
Green Parking areas planted to no-mow fescue. The site is
next to Traxler Park in Janesville, and will be available
for overflow parking during special events. The electrical
substation will continue to be used by Alliant Energy.
